I spent a month in NYC commuting via ferry from upper Manhattan to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The commute became a welcomed ritual. Here that route (the Astoria line) is animated using the names of ferry boats (charmingly been named by NY’s 2nd graders), and represent a day of ferry traffic on the route.  The page acts as an abstracted map that dynamically changes over the course of the day. Ferry names are shown on angles and in reverse to suggest directionality of the boat at that time of day.  The method became a bit of a generation tool, where each one of these stills could act as a point-in-time dymanic poster.
